Chittagong Metropolitan Jubo Dal President Mosharraf Hossain Deepti and General Secretary Muhammad Shahed strongly condemned and protested against the unjust arrest of Jubo Dal leaders and activists from various police stations of Chittagong city in the last few days. In a statement yesterday on Tuesday, the youth party leaders said that this blockade program to realize the demands of the people, this movement and struggle cannot be stopped by arresting them. The people of the country are seeing that the fascist Awami government is leading Bangladesh to a terrible situation. Ignoring the great interests of the people, the government has turned the entire country into a prison by mass arresting thousands of leaders and activists including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. Mejbah Uddin Ujjal, Convener Committee Member of Panchlaish Thana Youth Dal of the city, Mohammad Javed Hossain, Convenor of West Sholashar Ward Youth Dal, Jamal Uddin, Chandgaon Youth Dal Leader, Chowkbazar Thana Youth Dal Leader Md Yusuf, Ward No 43 Youth Dal Leader Mohammad Raju, Boxer Hat Juba Dal Leader No 35 Md. : Saiful and Md. Abu Chayed, No. 27 South Agrabad Ward Youth Leader Samsuddin Shamsu and other leaders of the party. It is said in the statement that BNP, Youth Dal and party leaders and activists are being arrested all over the country including Chittagong by carrying out mass arrests. It is clear that the current illegal ruling group is determined to take over the state power again by holding the next election. As the Awami government does not believe in democracy, they want to silence us by repressing all opposition opinions, including the BNP. We want to say clearly that BNP cannot be kept away from the movement to establish people’s rights through arrests, cases, torture and repression. We call on the people in charge of the administration to play their role on behalf of the country and the people. The leaders immediately demanded the release of former prime minister BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam, standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury and all party leaders and activists.
