The High Court granted anticipatory bail to the BNP leader and senior lawyer in the case of attack on the residence of the Chief Justice. Advocate Zainul Abedin, Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Nitai Roy Chowdhury have been granted anticipatory bail by the High Court.
Tuesday (November 7) Justice Abu Taher. A High Court bench headed by Saifur Rahman granted them three weeks anticipatory bail.
They were granted bail for the next three weeks on consideration of their personal reputation as lawyers. Surrender before the judicial court on expiry of anticipatory bail. However, the high court also mentioned in the order that this bail order cannot be used as a reference in the case of anticipatory bail of other accused.
At that time, the High Court said that the attack on the Chief Justice’s residence was a blow to the heart of the judiciary. Which does not send a good message to the nation. He requested to go outside this premises to hold political program to keep the court safe.
Police Inspector Mofizur Rahman of Ramna Police Station filed a case on the day of the BNP rally in Dhaka on the day of the Chief Justice’s residence. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was sent to jail on October 29 in this case. In the case, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and the party’s standing committee member Mirza Abbas, along with 59 leaders and activists, were accused.
According to the statement of the case, BNP leaders and activists attacked and vandalized the residence of the Chief Justice at 1 o’clock on October 28.
