An average of 5 fires occur in the capital Dhaka every day. And most of these fires occur in Mirpur area. This information was informed in a press release sent by Fire Service and Civil Defense Media Cell on Tuesday. It is also said that in the month of October this year, 1,475 fires occurred across the country, of which 163 fires occurred in the Dhaka City Corporation area.

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defense notification, out of 1,475 fires across the country in the month of October, 501 fires occurred in Dhaka Division, 55 in Mymensingh Division, 239 in Chittagong Division, 213 in Rajshahi Division, 149 in Khulna Division, 59 in Sylhet Division, 66 in Barisal Division and 193 in Rangpur Division. .

In these fires, 27 people were injured and 10 people were killed across the country. Among them, 15 people were injured and 3 people were killed in 163 fire incidents in Dhaka City Corporation area.

According to the statistics, the highest number of fire incidents occurred in Mirpur (22) in the capital, besides 13 in Mohammadpur, 9 in Demra, 12 in Tejgaon, 9 in Baridhara, 10 in Uttara, 10 in Postagola.

The monthly statistics also showed that there was a decrease in fire incidents from September to October. In the month of September, there were 1 thousand 557 fire incidents across the country.

The fire service notification also said that in the month of October, fire service and civil defense participated in rescue operations in 846 different types of accidents across the country. 830 people were injured and 167 people were killed. Out of which 690 road accidents. Besides, there were 39 kitchen gas cylinder accidents, 13 gas line malfunctions, 21 elevator accidents, 3 lightning strikes, and 58 river and water drowning accidents. 38 people died by drowning in rivers, ponds or water across the country.

8 people were killed and 7 people were injured in 44 different types of accidents in Dhaka City Corporation area alone. Besides, 193 accidents occurred in Dhaka Division, 47 in Mymensingh Division, 120 in Chittagong Division, 222 in Rajshahi Division, 96 in Khulna Division, 35 in Sylhet Division, 40 in Barisal Division and 93 in Rangpur Division.

In the month of October, fire service and civil defense from all over the country provided services through 4 thousand 817 calls to fire and various accidents. In addition, it was also informed that ambulance services were provided by transporting 1 thousand 164 patients through 1139 calls.
