DIG Nurul’s brother left the post of upazila chairman for the parliamentary elections

In response to Syed Nazrul Islam’s resignation, Shibganj Upazila Jubo League President Rafiqul Islam told Prothom Alo, ‘A senior police officer (Dhaka Range Deputy Inspector General – DIG Syed Nurul Islam) has one brother upazila chairman (Syed Nazrul Islam) and another brother (Syed Monirul Islam) Shibganj. He became the mayor of the city. They have no contribution in local Awami League politics. Syed Nazrul Islam used to work for another party. Syed Monirul Islam also had no active role in Awami League or its affiliated organizations. Both of them have been established in politics here only because of the police officer brother.’

Jubo League leader Rafiqul Islam also said, ‘I voted Syed Nazrul Islam for the post of upazila chairman for five years. I think he cheated my vote by resigning. He is coveting a bigger position. Like me, many ordinary workers and people think so.
Member of Parliament for Shibganj Constituency Shamil Uddin Ahmed told Prothom Alo, ‘Party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reserves the highest power to give nominations. He (Syed Nazrul Islam) resigned voluntarily. I don’t want to comment on this.’
