Mymensingh: Four people were killed in a road accident in Mymensingh. At least 40 people were injured.
The accident took place on Monday (November 6) around 12:30 pm when a bus lost control in Shikarikanda area of Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
The names and identities of the injured were not immediately known. Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Kamal Akand confirmed the information about the accident.
He said, a Sherpur-bound Fayaz Travels bus from Dhaka was coming towards Mymensingh city. On reaching Shikarikanda area, the bus lost control and rammed a passenger pickup and later crashed into a billboard pillar on the road divider. The billboard fell and broke. The front part of the bus was also twisted.
Senior station master of Bangladesh Agricultural University engaged in rescue work at the scene. Momen Murshed said that rescue work is going on for the injured in the incident. Traffic is normal on the highway. Details will be given later.
Deputy Inspector (SI) on duty at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Jahangir Alam said, so far 40 people have come to the hospital with injuries. Four people were reported killed.
