The Security Council is meeting on the Middle East
United Nations, November 7, 2023 (Bass Desk): The United Nations Security Council will hold an open meeting on November 9 to resolve the Middle East crisis.
Lana Zaki Nussebeh, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations, said this.
He said, in turn, China, which is in charge of the presidency of the Security Council this month, will regularly organize formal or informal Security Council meetings on the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
Lana Zaki Nussebeh also said that all 15 members will participate in the discussion on their own draft proposal raised by the temporary 10 member states of the Security Council.
The Security Council last month failed to pass any of the four draft resolutions on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Security Council’s provisional 10 member states are currently drafting a resolution themselves. Where the terms of the previous proposal are supposed to be included.
It should be noted that Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. Israel also launched a counterattack in Gaza. This attack is ongoing.
Gaza’s health ministry said more than 10,000 people have been killed so far in Israel’s continued attacks. Among them there are more than four thousand women and children.
