A man has been detained for questioning in connection with the covered van fire, police said.

A covered van was set on fire on the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road and a bus was set on fire in the capital’s Mirpur.
These two incidents of arson took place on Monday around 9:30 pm.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatulla Model Police Station Noore Azam told The Daily Star that unknown miscreants set fire to a Shah Cement Company truck in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road at around 9:30 p.m.
He said, ‘The covered van was parked on one side of the road. Some unknown people came and poured petrol on it and set it on fire.’
On receiving the information, the fire service personnel went to the spot and controlled the fire, said the OC.
He also said that one person has been detained for questioning in this incident.
A police source said, after setting fire to the covered van, unidentified miscreants tried to flee in a microbus. The driver of that microbus has been arrested.
Police are trying to identify those who set fire to the covered van, said OC Noore Azam.
When asked, Deputy Assistant Director of Narayanganj Fire Service Fakhruddin Ahmed told Daily Star, “A team from Hajiganj Fire Station reached the spot and brought the fire under control.”
On the other hand, fire service said that unidentified miscreants set fire to a bus of Bihang Paribahan at 9:28 pm in Mirpur-6 area.
