Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has announced a budget of Tk 182 crore 99 lakh 19 thousand for the current financial year 2023-24. KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khalek announced this budget at Shahid Altaf Auditorium of Nagar Bhavan on Monday. This is the largest budget in KCC’s 33-year history.
In the proposed budget, the revenue expenditure has been estimated at Tk 196 crore 52 lakh 33 thousand and the expenditure in the development sector from the government allocation and development cooperatives has been estimated at Tk 736 crore 6 lakh 67 thousand.
KCC Mayor while announcing the budget said that currently 19 development projects of various development cooperative organizations are ongoing in the City Corporation area. These projects are expected to receive development assistance of Tk 179 crore 46 lakh 67 thousand in the financial year 2023-24. 496 crores 60 lakhs have been allocated for three projects under National ADP. Besides, a potential allocation of Tk 1,500 crore can be found in the physical infrastructure development project of Khulna City Corporation, which is awaiting approval.
The budget session was presided over by the convenor of KCC’s budget preparation and management committee. Ali Akbar (Tipu). KCC Chief Executive Officer Laskar Tajul Islam conducted the event which was attended by KCC panel mayors, councillors, civil society representatives, business leaders, government officials, KCC senior officers-employees and media representatives.
