Managing Director of Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Limited Engineer Manjur Ahmed Chowdhury said that on Monday afternoon, during the road work in Majortila on the Sylhet-Tamabil road, gas started to come out due to the impact of the excavator.

“Immediately our people went and started working. So the gas supply in that area is stopped. This will take some time; Caution should be exercised while doing road work.”
Locals said that the incident took place on the Sylhet-Tamabil road in Majortila around 3:30 in the afternoon.

Later Jalalabad gas officials came and stopped the traffic on Sylhet-Tamabil road with bamboo.

The gas transmission line was stopped around 5:30 pm and the traffic on this road was normalized around 5:30 pm.

Gas supply has been stopped in surrounding areas including Khadimnagar, Tilagarh, Mirabazar, Shibganj, Sadipur, Senpara, Baluchar, Majortila, Kharpara, Mirapara and Tultikor since 5:30 pm due to the shutdown of the transmission line.
