Around 300 families have suffered due to the collapse of a bridge in Sarsi village of No. 2 Kashipur Union of Barisal Sadar Upazila. Although this bridge was in shaky condition for a long time, the bridge collapsed two days ago due to no action being taken. Now the villagers are suffering.
Saqib Riad, a resident of Sarsi village, said that the bridge, built many years ago, was impassable, but the public representatives did not take any action.
Rahman, a resident of the same village, said that we had informed the union chairman Liton Molla several times before, but he did not take any action. Because of this, about three hundred families of Sarsi village are now in captivity. Therefore, their demand is that if this bridge is made suitable for movement as soon as possible, the suffering of the villagers will be removed.
Nur Alam, another resident of Sarsi village, said that the current chairman Kamal Hossain Liton Molla was the chairman of this union before. We villagers informed him several times about the bridge but he did not take any action. So now the villagers are suffering.
He also said that since yesterday he had called her many times but she did not receive.
UP Member of Ward No. 5 of Kashipur Union, Russell Mallick said, “I repaired this bridge built about 20 years ago several times at my own expense. But now it is completely broken. The matter was reported to our parliamentarian and union chairman yesterday, but they have not taken any action so far. He also said, I am a member so I have to be close to the people and try to share their happiness and sorrow. But it is not possible for me to repair the bridge. So I informed my superiors.
Kashipur union chairman Kamal Hossain called Liton Molla several times in this regard but he did not receive.
