Mahmuda Khanam Mitu
Chittagong: 10 other people testified in court in the case of murder of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of former police superintendent Babul Akhtar. A total of 32 people have completed their testimony in the case.
On Monday (November 6), Chittagong’s third additional metropolitan session judge Md. This testimony was taken in the court of Jasim Uddin.
The witnesses are Epic Healthcare Engineer Sohail Rana, Manager (Admin) Arek Hossain, Jumeirah Holdings Katalganj Manager Atiq Hasan, Caretaker Sahab Uddin, Hotel Well Park Manager Moinul Hasan, Officer Bishwanath Dash, Well Food IT Officer Shahidul Alam, Employee Alauddin, former DB ASI Nazrul Islam (footage collection) and Constable Milton Dey.
Court bench assistant Neshar Ahmed told Banglanews that 10 people, including the ASI of the police, have testified in the Mitu murder case. The examination of 10 witnesses has also been completed. So far 32 people have completed their testimony in the case. The court has fixed November 28 for the next hearing of the case.
According to the case documents, on the morning of June 5, 2016, Mitu was publicly shot and hacked to death while going to hand over her son to the school bus at GEC intersection in Chittagong city. The rest of the accused in the case are Motaleb Mia alias Wasim, Anwar Hossain, Ehteshamul Haque Bhola, Shahjahan Mia, Kamrul Islam Shikder Mucha and Khairul Islam. After Mitu’s murder in 2016, her husband, then police officer Babul Akhtar, filed the case as a plaintiff. After various dramas, he is now the accused in the PBI investigation. Former SP Babul was in the Chittagong Metropolitan Police a few days before the incident. The murder took place in Chittagong soon after he went to join the workplace in Dhaka after being transferred.
