Mymensingh: In the last 24 hours, 27 leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliates were arrested by the police in various upazilas of the district. They were arrested in related cases including special powers, explosives.
BNP leaders and activists arrested on Monday (November 6) afternoon have been sent to jail through the Mymensingh Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in related cases.
The Officers-in-Charge (OC) of the respective police station separately confirmed the information about the arrest of BNP leaders and activists.
Among these, Kotwali Model Police Station conducted raids in different areas of the city and arrested 5 BNP activists, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Kamal Akand.
In a press release, he said that those arrested are suspects in the explosives case. They have been sent to jail by court.
They are- North District Juba Dal Joint General Secretary Mofazzal Hossain (36), Volunteer Leader Armanur Rahman Ruman (37), BNP activist Shahid Anwarul Islam Ujjal (52), Alal Mia (45) and Md. Raju (27).
Also, 5 people were arrested in Phulpur, 2 in Ishwarganj, 1 in Nandale, 7 in Tarakanda, 4 in Valuka, 2 in Muktagacha, 1 in Phulbaria, 1 in Haluaghat and 1 in Dhobaura. All of them are the leaders and workers of BNP and other organizations and accused in related cases including special powers, explosives, police said.
However, it was not possible to know the names and identities of all those arrested immediately.
