Saima Wazed’s success is Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s success: Health Minister Zahid Malek

Dhaka, November 6, 2023 (BASS) : Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s success and achievement was the victory of Prime Minister’s daughter Saima Wazed by a large margin in New Delhi on November 1. Because they have put their trust in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina before about 200 million people of Southeast Asia. That is why the minister mentioned that this success of Saima Wazed is the success of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Minister of Health said these things in a press conference organized on the occasion of the victory of Saima Wazed as the regional director of Southeast Asia of the World Health Organization, recognition as the first country in the world to eliminate malaria and recognition of the country free from filoria, in the meeting room of the ministry on Monday.
In the press conference, about getting recognition as the first country in the world to eliminate kala-azar and Bangladesh being free of filoria, the health minister said that kala-azar affects around 100 people in the world every year. It is a deadly disease. Every year, 50,000 to 90,000 people in the world are infected. Out of 100 countries that are affected by the disease, 13 countries have an infection rate of 90 percent. About 4 crore people of Bangladesh were at risk of infection. As a result of the effective action of the Ministry of Health, Bangladesh has now been recognized as a culture free country. This is our national achievement.
In the press conference about the spread of filaria or infant disease, the health minister said that the filaria infection rate was the highest in 19 districts out of 64 districts of Bangladesh. Bangladesh has been recognized by eradicating this disease with the appropriate initiative of the Ministry of Health.
