Bogra: Miscreants set fire to a water lorry standing on the road in Shajahanpur upazila of Bogra on the second day of the 48-hour blockade called by BNP-Jamaat.
The incident took place on Monday (November 6) at around 12:15 pm in the cane cart on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in the upazila.
The front part of the car was burnt in the fire.
Later the fire was brought under control with the help of the police. However, no one was injured in this incident, police said.
Hafizur Rahman Ghazi, the driver of the car, said that the work of upgrading the four lane of the Dhaka-Rangpur highway is going on. CPCL company vehicle (Dhaka Metro-D 11-0338) was working on the highway. There were three to four people in the car. Suddenly around 20 youths came and asked us to get down from the car. Then after we got out of the car they threw something at the car. Later, the car burst into flames with a loud noise. The front part of the car got burnt due to fire.
He also said that the entire cabin including the engine of the lorry was burnt in the fire. It caused a loss of several lakhs of rupees.
Shajahanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam said the picketers set fire to a water lorry and escaped. Later the fire was brought under control with the help of the police. Identification of the miscreants is underway.
