A symposium titled ‘Leadership Skills for Smart Bangladesh’ was held at Dhaka University (DU) under the initiative of Actionist Foundation.
Thursday (November 2) from 3 pm to 6 pm University professor Dr. The symposium was held at Mohammad Habibullah Conference Hall.
Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar was the chief guest at the symposium under the chairmanship of ANM Fakhrul Amin Farhad, founder and executive director of Actionist Foundation. The special guest was the European Union Delegation to Bangladesh. Bernard Spanier.
The symposium was moderated by Mohiuddin Bhuiyan and Khadija Akhtar Urmi. Raisa Nasser, Head of Communication of Actionist Foundation gave the welcome speech of the event.
Chief guest Mustafa Jabbar said that class education is a small part of career building. To progress in life one must develop other skills. Development of leadership qualities and communication skills is one of them.
Masood Khan, president of Unilever Consumer Care Limited said in the discussion, our mind guides us. So our psychology has a lot of influence in our personal and professional life. So we need mental training. Overcome negativity and keep a positive mindset.
Manik Mahmood, Head of Social Innovation at A2I Program said, “There is a huge gap in our academic and work life skills, which students are not aware of. But problems are faced during work. A link needs to be created between formal education and the contemporary job market.
Mahbub Rahman, chairperson of Star Cineplex, said that we can never ignore the issue of efficiency. Word, PowerPoint, Excel among many skills are needed in our daily life and we should learn it seriously. Besides, we have to ensure the management of social media.
Bernard Spanier said that the population of Bangladesh is very high. If the quality of this huge population can be increased then a great revolution will be achieved. Increasing investment is needed now to increase the digital skills of the youth.
Apart from this, Dhaka University teachers Imran Hossain Bhuiyan and Sadia Noor Khan were present as panel moderators.
Actionist Foundation has long been conducting workshops, seminars and online campaigns for the mental health and overall development of the youth.
