A housewife named Meher Nigar Sohagi (20) died mysteriously in Bogra’s Adamdighi. After the incident in Kalaikuri village of the upazila on Thursday afternoon, the husband and in-laws of the housewife left the body and ran away.

On Thursday night, the police recovered the body and sent it to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SHJMEC) hospital morgue. On Friday, the father of the deceased filed a case at the Adamdighi police station on the charge of incitement to suicide.

Police and relatives said Nadeem Pramanik, son of Hossain Ali of Kalaikuri village of Chatiangram union of Adamdighi upazila of Bogra, married Meher Nigar Sohagi, daughter of Khokon of Shibpur village of neighboring Sadar union three years ago. They have one child in their family. Since marriage, husband Nadeem Pramanik and in-laws have been abusing her mentally and physically for various reasons.

On Thursday morning, Nanad Hosne Ara beat the housewife Sohagi. Sohagi fell ill. In the afternoon, the husband and in-laws poisoned Sohagi by preaching. He was first admitted to Adamdighi Upazila Health Complex. When the condition worsened there, Bogra tried to take Shajimek to the hospital, but he died on the way. After that, they returned home and fled leaving the body behind. Sohagi’s father and mother rushed to the news.

Nargis Begum, mother-in-law of the deceased, claimed that Nanad Hosne Ara did not beat her (Sohagi).

Najma Bibi, the mother of deceased Sohagi, claimed that her daughter was killed by physical torture.

Rezaul Karim Reza, OC of Adamdighi police station, said that Sohagi’s father Khokon filed a case of inciting his daughter to commit suicide at the police station on Friday. Legal action will be taken against the accused subject to investigation.
