An attack took place on an ATM booth of Southeast Bank in a large house next to the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. At this time, the attacker vandalized the booth and tried to loot the money. Later the attacker was arrested by the locals. At one point, when the local police station was informed, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
This incident happened on Friday (November 3) afternoon.
According to local sources, the highway was empty after Friday prayers today. At this time, a person entered the booth of Southeast Bank and vandalized it. At one point, the security guard of the booth, Zahirul, stopped the assailant and pushed him away. Later on Zahirul’s call, the people around came forward and arrested the attacker.
Zahirul Haque, security worker of the booth, said, ‘That man entered inside saying to withdraw money. Then vandalized and tried to loot money. When I resisted, he pushed me away. Later I called the people around. Locals arrested the man. I called 999 immediately after this incident. Then the police came.’
The identity of the attacker at the ATM booth is yet to be known.
