26 lakh 32 thousand taka was stolen from a booth of Dutch Bangla Bank in Sylhet on October 28. Sandeepan Das, the ATM officer of Sylhet zone of Securex Company, a company providing money at the booth, filed a case on Friday. The defendants in the case also belong to the same company. Meanwhile, the police have arrested the accused Albab Hossain, who is working as an ATM officer.
It is alleged in the case that on October 27, 27 lakh 75 thousand Tk was deposited in the ATM booth of Subidbazar in the city. But the money was not deposited due to cash jam problem. After going to the booth on October 30, an average of Tk 26 lakh 32 thousand was found. Later, in the CCTV footage, between 11:55 PM and 12:15 PM on October 28, 2-3 persons wearing black caps, face masks and eye glasses opened the vault of the booth and stole money.
Sandipan mentioned in the statement that among the 2-3 anonymous defendants, the company’s ATM officers Albab Hossain and Aminul Haque may be involved in the incident.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Azbahar Ali Sheikh said, we are investigating the matter. Two officials of the company are suspected to be involved in the theft of money. One person has been arrested. Efforts are underway to arrest the other person.
