Two people have been arrested in a case of anti-state sabotage activities in Bogra. Members of RAB-12 Bogra Company raided Gabtali on Thursday midnight and arrested them. They were handed over to Sadar police station on Friday.
RAB Company Commander Superintendent of Police Mir Monir Hossain gave this information in a press release in the afternoon.
The arrested accused are Rabiul Islam (44) of Uzgram of Gabtali upazila of Bogra and Abu Taher (45) of Langlu Bazar of the same upazila.
The RAB official said that during the BNP-Jamaat strike on October 29, apart from the two arrested, the other accused stayed on the road next to the police plaza on the city’s Nawabbari road. They staged marches, picketing, vandalized auto-rickshaws and pelted the police with various indigenous weapons in support of the hartal to carry out planned subversive activities and anti-state sabotage. Apart from this, during the siege from October 31 to November 2, the defendants set fire to tires, set fire to trucks and vandalized the roads along with picketing at various places in the district. A case was filed in Sadar police station in this regard.
On Thursday midnight, it was reported that the accused in the case under Special Powers Act 15(3) and some sections of the Penal Code are staying at different places in the district. Rabiul Islam and Abu Taher were arrested from their respective houses in Gabtali.
