Rajesh Aggarwal, spokesperson of Hili trade association said, “There is a huge demand for potatoes in Bangladesh at the moment. The government has issued letters of credit (LC) for potatoes. LC is being offered at $140 to $150 per metric ton depending on the quality of the potatoes. By the end of the year, potatoes are in high demand in Bangladesh. It was not understood before. As a result, the businessmen of both countries will benefit.”

Meanwhile, State Secretary of West Bengal Exporters Coordination Committee, Ujjal Saha said, “New potatoes will be in the market after a few days. At that time, the government of Bangladesh has decided to import potatoes from our country due to the potato crisis in neighboring countries. This will benefit farmers as well as traders. They will get a higher price than the potatoes they have stored in the freezer. This decision of the Bangladesh government will increase their income.”
