November 1 is the 23rd death anniversary of Bangajit Dutta, the founder of the Meghdut theater troupe in independent Bangladesh-playwright and eminent makeup artist. Commemorating the death of this great man, Banganjit Dutt Death Day Celebration Board is also remembering him this time in continuation of the previous days. Workshop certificate awarding, commemorative awarding, commemoration ceremony and play staging has been organized at Studio Theater Hall of Bangladesh Art Academy today at 6:30 pm.
This time, Suresh Dutt is receiving the memorial award, drama personality M Hamid and Bangajit Dutt are getting the memorial award, and the award is being made by Shini Shankar Kumar Das. Present at the commemoration ceremony were stage manager Ataur Rahman, dramatist Golam Sarwar and dramatist Dr. Irene Parveen Lopa.
At the end of Smriti Charan, Vivekananda Theatre’s new production Uttran written by Apurva Kumar Kundu, directed and acted by Subhashish Datta Tanmoy will be staged. Regarding the overall arrangement, Subhashish Dutt Tanmoy, leader of the celebration board and Banganjit Dutt’s son, said, ‘Though a creative person has passed away, he lives on in the shadow of his art. And for that reason, I am looking back at the master of makeup artists, dramatist and man of drama, the heavenly Bangajit Dutta, through the decoration workshop-remembrance-memorial awards and drama staging. This event is a celebration of theatrical life.’

Incidentally, Bangajit Dutt holds a master’s degree in English literature, is a teacher by profession, and is a part-time homeopathy doctor. Three generations of stage actors and actresses of Bangladesh have been revealed by the touch of his hand. This artist was born on 4th September 1934.
