In a statement published on its website last Tuesday, OHCHR urged the government to show maximum restraint in mitigating political tensions during the crisis in Bangladesh. The statement called for upholding the human rights of all citizens of Bangladesh before, during and after the elections. It also blamed masked people for the October 28 incident. Many of the masked people at the United Nations are pro-government.
In this context, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said that many descriptions of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights are quite flawed. They are true facts. We will send a protest to this. We think they are not properly informed. They lack information. The lack of information on such institutions is unfortunate.
The statement of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights also said, ‘We are deeply concerned about the incidents of violence one after another in the ongoing protests in Bangladesh. With national elections ahead in the country, we call on all political parties to make it clear that such violence is not acceptable. Along with that, we call on the politicians to refrain from statements and activities that incite violence.
When asked about Mia Arefi, who introduced herself as US President Biden’s adviser to the BNP office in Nayapaltan on October 28, the foreign minister said, “It is very sad that all people are playing games with the US government in our country. It has become like a game. “It’s a shame,” he said. US President Joe Biden is not such a stupid guy. One person claims to be his (Biden’s) adviser. He held a press conference at BNP head office and before that talked to BNP leaders. BNP leaders are sitting on both sides of him (Mia Arefi) in the press conference.
Abdul Momen said that ‘Mia Arefi is a fake person’, BNP is always busy with fake people. US should take action against this fake guy.
