EC directs borrowers to provide updated information on time

Dhaka, November 1, 2023 (BSS) : The Election Commission (EC) has directed Bangladesh Bank to provide updated information to defaulters on time in view of the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections.
EC Secretariat Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam told reporters this information.
The meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal was attended by 29 officials from Bangladesh Bank, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Department of Technical and Madrasa Education, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Shipping, Department of Armed Forces and Department of Cabinet (Coordination and Reforms). took Apart from this, other Election Commissioners and senior officials of EC were also present in it.
The secretary said that the amendment of the law, which has the last date for submission of nomination papers, those who are in default will deposit money till the day before that day. There was a discussion on how banks can submit updated information to the Returning Officer while selecting the nomination papers.
