Chittagong: The traveling court seized 40 maunds of hilsa fish for harvesting hilsa fish in violation of the ban. Later, the fishes were distributed among 11 orphanages and 10 government children’s families.
On Wednesday (November 1) from morning to evening, the mobile court from Patenga to the sea was run by the executive magistrate of Chittagong district administration. Jasim Uddin.
The Executive Magistrate said that the operation was conducted according to the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner to protect mother hilsa.
40 maunds of hilsa were seized in the raid. We distributed the seized hilsa fish to 11 local orphanages and 10 government children’s families.
He also said that in addition, two fishing boats and 100,000 meters of hilsa fishing nets were seized in the operation. The seized nets and boats were handed over to the custody of the Bangladesh Navy.
Hilsa fishing has been banned in the country since October 12. The ban will remain in force till November 2.
During these 22 days, harvesting, transportation, storage, marketing, sale and exchange of hilsa is completely prohibited and punishable throughout the country. Violation of this law is punishable with rigorous imprisonment of at least 1 to 2 years or a fine of up to 5 thousand taka or both.
