The High Court granted 6 months bail to the expelled leader of Jubo Mahila League, Shamima Noor Papia, in the case of acquisition of wealth beyond the known income.
Justice Md. The High Court bench consisting of Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Muhammad Ali passed this order on Wednesday. ACC lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan confirmed the matter to reporters.
Earlier, on August 4, 2020, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against the expelled leader of Jubo Mahila League, Shamima Noor Papia and her husband Mofizur Rahman alias Sumon Chowdhury alias Moti Sumon, on the charge of acquiring assets outside the known income of Tk 6 crore 24 lakh 18 thousand.
ACC Head Office Deputy Director Shaheen Ara Mumtaz filed the case as the plaintiff.
From October 13, 2019 to February 22, 2020, Papia came to Westin Hotel with a bill of around 3.5 crore rupees. He lived regularly with 11 people at the Westin. 88 pairs of shoes of Papia were recovered during the operation of law enforcement forces.
On February 22 of that year, RAB arrested four people, including Papia, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on charges of carrying fake money and smuggling illegal money. The rest are Papiya’s husband Mofizur Rahman, Sabbir Khandkar and Sheikh Tayiba.
Then on February 23, Papiya’s house was raided on Indira Road in the capital and a foreign pistol, two magazines, 20 rounds of bullets, five bottles of foreign liquor, Tk 58 lakh 41 thousand, five passports, three cheques, several foreign currencies and 10 ATM cards of different banks were recovered. .
