Exemption of 12 persons employed on contractual basis

Six officers and six deans appointed on contractual basis in Rajshahi Medical University (RAMEB) have been relieved. This exemption was granted as their appointment was not lawful. Registrar Professor Dr. issued an office order on behalf of the vice-chancellor of the university on Saturday, exempting 12 people. Anwarul Kader. Although the appointment of 12 people was canceled, the registrar of Ramebi was appointed illegally. Four other officials including Anwarul Quader are still in place. Authorities say they have been hired temporarily to carry out the work. Recruitment circular has already been published to fill 13 posts including some vacant posts.

According to university sources, the six exempted officers are sub-registrar Dr. Amin Ahmed, Deputy Controller of Examination Dr. Sarwar Jahan, Assistant Controller Dr. Amir Hossain, Assistant Director Planning Development. Ashraf Ali, Deputy Director of Finance Akhtar Hossain and Government Director Mofizuddin.

It is reported that six other officers who were illegally appointed on contractual basis in six departments are still retained. Many of whom are alleged to be involved in various irregularities and corruption. In particular, there are widespread complaints against Sirajum Monir, former engineer of Rajshahi Development Authority and currently Director of Planning and Development Department of Ramebi. This includes appointing officials to carry out activities in other positions including design consultation after land acquisition as per Ramebir’s facility construction project rules. However, three persons have been appointed on contractual basis in Ramebi in the last two years before the land acquisition was completed. Two of them have been eliminated. However, engineer Sirajum Monir still remained.

Meanwhile, ignoring the decision of the University Grants Commission, eight deans were illegally appointed temporarily for eight faculties. Each of whom is paid a high monthly stipend. Now the appointment of six of them has been cancelled. However, these six faculties were also not approved. Even though the dean was supposed to be appointed by the faculty of the university, that did not happen. Because no teacher has been appointed in the university yet.

The six deans who were exempted are the dean of the department of medicine and the professor of Bogra Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College. Hossain, Dean of Nursing Faculty and Principal of Nilphamari Medical College Professor Dr. Rabiul Islam, Dean of Dental Faculty and Principal of Naogaon Medical College Professor Bulbul Hossain, Dean of Para Clinical Faculty and Professor of Rajshahi Medical College Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Khan Badsha, professor of the same medical college. Asafudaula Shyamal and Professor Dr. Jawadul Haque.

The dean of the two faculties still in place – they are the dean of the faculty of medicine and the principal of Rajshahi Medical College, Professor Dr. Nausad Ali and Habibullah Sarkar, Dean of Faculty of Surgery and Vice-Principal of the same Medical College.

AZM Mostak Hossain, Vice-Chancellor of Ramebi, said that six officers and six deans who were appointed on contractual basis have been relieved. One more will be exempted. It would be difficult to run the university without those at all, only a few on contractual appointments have been placed in those positions. Recruitment notification has been issued. These posts will also be permanently appointed.
