American Corner aims to exchange knowledge: Peter Haas in Rajshahi

American Corner has been inaugurated in the private Barendra University of Rajshahi. US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas inaugurated the American Corner at the private Barendra University located in Kharkhari area on the outskirts of Rajshahi metropolis on Monday.

After the inauguration of the American Corner in Rajshahi, Peter Haas said, 4 lakh people are involved in 5 American Corners in Bangladesh under 1,600 programs. American Corner aims to exchange knowledge. To promote positive people-to-people relations between the two countries and to further strengthen the existing US-Bangladesh relationship.

He also said that since the beginning of the operation, American Corner has effectively stood as a public institution of local people to spread knowledge and contribute to social activities. In addition to studies and research in this institution, students get many opportunities to pursue higher degrees in America.

Note that the American Corner in Rajshahi is a joint initiative of the US Embassy and Varendra University, Rajshahi.

Earlier, Ambassador Peter Haas arrived in Rajshahi by air in the morning. From the airport, he directly visited the historic Puthia Rajbari and Terracotta Temple of Rajshahi. After the program he returned to Dhaka by afternoon flight.
