Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Omar Hajjaz has urged Japan to take skilled manpower from Bangladesh. He made this call during an exchange of views with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) delegation at the World Trade Center in Agrabad, Chittagong on Monday.

Vice President Raisa Mahbub, Dhaka Country Representative of Jetro UG Ando, ​​Chittagong Chamber Director Mahfuzul Haque Shah, Mohammad Aktar Parvez, Omar Muktadir among others spoke under the chairmanship of Chamber President Omar Hajjaj.

Omar Hajjaz said that Japan is a reliable friend of Bangladesh. Japan has a large investment in developing the current infrastructure of the country. Among these are the construction of Matarbari deep sea port, Dhaka Metrorail and third terminal of Shahjalal Airport. Chittagong Chamber has launched Japan Desk to provide all kind of assistance to Japanese investors. The chamber is planning to host a ‘Bay of Bengal Growth Summit’ next year and send a trade delegation to Japan. He requested the recruitment of skilled manpower from Bangladesh in order to further expand Japan’s continued development cooperation.

JETRO Country Representative Yuji Ando said Japanese investors expect the Japan-Bangladesh Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) to be completed by 2025. Besides, if the complexity of customs clearance procedure is simplified, investors will be more interested.
