Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said that the police in Bangladesh have the ability to stop any attempt to make the life and property of the people insecure around the upcoming parliamentary elections. We have all preparations for this and the police force is always ready. The police currently has trained manpower, logistics and necessary equipment.

He said these things while interacting with journalists at Rangpur Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Monday (September 18) afternoon. Earlier, he spoke as the chief guest at the Sudhi rally on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Rangpur Metropolitan Police.

The IGP said that the police do not have any information about the rise of militancy around the upcoming parliamentary elections. Intelligence agencies, RAB and other police units are working to prevent militancy from gaining ground. Our campaign continues. He said that several militants have already been arrested.

He said that recently RAB conducted a successful operation against militants in Bandarban. Militants could not organize in Moulvibazar due to police action. We are one step ahead of the terrorists. We were able to take action before the militants created any destabilizing environment.

He also said that the police will be under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission during the National Assembly elections. The police will work as per the instructions of the Election Commission. The century-old police force has worked with the people in the past and will continue to work together to maintain peace and order in the future.

Earlier, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Under the chairmanship of Moniruzzaman, Begum Rokeya University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Hasibur Rashid, Rangpur Range DIG Abdul Baten, Police Training Center Commandant Vasudev Banik, Rangpur District Commissioner Mohammad Mobashwer Hasan, Rangpur District Police Superintendent Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, Rangpur Metropolitan Awami League convener Dr. Delwar Hossain, Zilla Parishad Chairman Mosaddek Hossain Bablu.

IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun officially inaugurated the anniversary by blowing balloons in front of Surabhi Udyan in the city at 11 o’clock. Later a procession circumambulates the various streets of the city. On the occasion of the foundation anniversary, a cake was cut and the Rangpur Metropolitan Police commemorative ‘Madula’ was unveiled.
