The Constitution states, ‘The right to social security, that is, the right to government assistance in the event of poverty due to uncontrollable causes such as unemployment, sickness or infirmity or widowhood, parentlessness or old age or other similar circumstances.’ These are the rights of citizens But in this law it is said that the government will return the contribution from the people. There is no chance of passing this bill.
Jatiya Party Member of Parliament Shamim Haider Patwari said, apparently the law is good. But it doesn’t seem to be anything out of the way that various private institutions do providential. It is not clear what profit the government will give. He also claimed that this law is in conflict with the constitution.
Pir Fazlur Rahman, another Member of Parliament of Jatiya Party also claimed that this bill is not compatible with the constitution.
