America’s influential magazine Variety has named the Camden International Film Festival as an ‘Oscar campaign hotspot’. Qamar Ahmad Simon’s ‘Another Day…’ won the Harrell Award for Best Film at the Camden International Film Festival.

Renowned film critic Eric Hines, responding on behalf of the jury, said, “All of us on the jury were unanimous in awarding this film the best award. This hybrid film is a powerful observation of an entire society.”

Eight films, including ‘Another Day…’, competed for the Harrell Award for Best Picture at Camden’s 18th edition this year. In addition to Bangladesh, there were pictures of America, Canada, France, Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Scotland, Austria, Palestine and Armenia. The festival featured a screening of ‘Another Day…’ at Journey’s End Theater in Rockland, Maine.

It is reported that after Camden, Simon Kammer’s ‘Another Day…’ will be screened at the Zurich International Film Festival, one of Europe’s film festivals. This movie is in the fray for the ‘Golden Eye’ award there.

Earlier this movie was invited to the main international competition of the World Top-Ten Festival Edfa last November. After winning the Grant Award from Sundance in 2014, Kamar started working on ‘Anyday…’, but he is reluctant to talk about the story of the film. For the script of this film, Kamar was awarded the Red Carpet Director’s Award at Piazza Grande in Locarno in 2016 as the first Bangladeshi filmmaker. Also received Best Award at Open Doors and Arte International Prize. And in 2017, he received an exclusive invitation to the Cannes Film Festival Sinfundation. Screen Daily wrote ‘Another Day…’ in its review as ‘seductive’ and Variety as ‘funny but soul-stirring’.
