Banglahunt the desk: Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Liger’ is the victim of Bollywood’s woes. The star, who is booming in the Telugu industry, has made a splash in Bollywood. The big-budget Liger practically crumbled into dust. Starting from the screenplay of the film, Vijay Ananya’s performance could not win the hearts of the audience. Even the actor himself is angry after seeing the picture.
Liger directed by Puri Jagannath was made with a total budget of 100 crore rupees. Vijay played the role of an MMA fighter. He fought for the life of the first Hindi film. There was no shortage of publicity. But the results were not as expected.
Liger was released on August 25. So far, the film has managed to make a little more than 65 crores. As a result, the producers are going to suffer huge losses. In the last few months, every film released in Bollywood has flopped. Producers have suffered. Liger was not spared either.
However, recent reports say that Vijay has decided to stand by the producers after accepting the failure of the film. He has decided to return about 6 crore rupees from his remuneration. Earlier Aamir Khan did this after Lal Singh Chadha flopped. He did not take a single payment for four years of hard work.
Incidentally, Vijay was earlier seen speaking out against the boycott culture of Bollywood. In turn, he did not bother to call for a boycott of his film Ligar. After that Manoj Desai, executive director of Maratha Mandir Cinema and Gaiety Galaxy, praised Vijay. He called Vijay ‘arrogant’ and ‘anaconda’ for commenting on the boycott trend. Although after that Vijay Deverakonda met and talked to him personally.
