Bogra: At the traditional Jhongkar cinema hall in Dhunat upazila of Bogra, the hall authorities are giving away a free packet of biryani to the audience with every ticket of Tk 100.

It has received a huge response among the entertainment audience.

After a decade, the managing director of the cinema hall organized this meal on Saturday (April 20) from 12 noon onwards.

It is known that the Jhangar cinema hall built by Isa Khan in 1984 in Dhunat town keeps losing audience day by day. In the era of internet and smartphones, cinema lovers have become alienated. In this, like all other cinema halls in the country, the audience keeps decreasing. At one point the cinema hall was closed due to empty audience. After a long decade, the authorities have again started showing films in Jhangar Cinema Hall from April 20.

The movie ‘Lipstick’ starring Adar Azad-Pooja Cherry is showing in the hall. The movie is produced by Kamruzzaman Roman. Jhangar cinema hall has 500 seats for audience. The price of each ticket is 100 rupees. Now a free packet of Biryani is being given to every visitor along with the ticket. This system of food will continue for the next one month.

‘Lipstick’ is being screened daily at 12 noon, 3 pm, 6 pm and 9 pm in cinema halls. But due to extreme heat, the attendance of visitors is less at 12 noon and 3 pm every day.

However, at 6 pm and 9 pm, the hall is full of visitors. Daily average viewership response is as expected. In this case, the director of the hall is looking at the profit. ‘Lipstick’ and biryani free are the buzzwords of cinema goers.

The visitors of the hall said that this is the first time that the issue of getting free biryani with the ticket in the cinema hall. Many people are happy to sit in the hall to watch good movies and also taste biryani. If this system is kept open, the audience thinks that the audience will return to the cinema hall.

Imran Honer, Managing Director of Dhunte Jhangar Cinema Hall, said that free biryani will be given with the ticket as long as the audience comes to the cinema hall. Basically, this arrangement has been made to attract visitors. However, if the makers make good films, the audience will again turn to cinema. He also commented that it will be possible for us to turn around in this business if we get government incentives.
