Grammy-winning and American Idol star Mendisa has died mysteriously. The musician was found dead at his home in Franklin, Tennessee. Mendisa was 47 years old at the time of her death.
According to a BBC report, the initial cause of Mendisa’s death was not immediately known. The Franklin Police Department has opened an investigation into his death. Mendisa’s rep confirmed the news of the singer’s death in a statement.
As a student at Fisk University in Nashville, Mendisa Fisk began her musical career with the Jubilee Singers. In 2006, Mendisa rose to fame after participating in Season 5 of American Idol. where he caught the eye of the audience competing with winner Taylor Hicks.
After success on the Mendisa Show, she released her debut album ‘True Beauty’ in 2007 and began her career in Christian music. Mendisa has released several albums including ‘Freedom’, ‘It’s Christmas’, ‘What If We Are Real’, ‘Out of the Dark’, ‘Overcomer’ and ‘Overcomer: The Greatest Hits’. They are very popular.
Mendisa won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for her 2013 album Overcomer.
