The 29th Kolkata International Film Festival is going to start from December 5. It can be said that there will be many surprises like every year. Every year there are several surprises at the opening of the film festival. The first day was celebrated at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata. It is known that a classic film of Uttam Kumar will be shown as the opening film this year. Also in the program list are the names of the stars who will be attending the festival.

It is also reported that a host of Bollywood celebrities including Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Jaya Bachchan and Mahesh Bhatt will attend the inauguration of the festival on December 5. In this week-long festival, cinephiles from all over the world will participate through their films. Tributes will also be paid to the birth centenary of legendary filmmaker Mrinal Sen and actor Dev Anand.

In an interview to the Times of India, festival chairman Raj Chakraborty said, ‘Spain and Australia are the focus countries of the festival this year. This festival has included Bangla Panorama in the competitive category for the first time. whose prize money is 7.5 lakh taka.

Raj also said, ‘This time the post of chairman of the reception committee has been specially created for Prasenjit Chatterjee. Because, he knows best how to bring everyone under one roof. At the same time, everyone needs his experience for a successful event. His experience will guide us well and take the festival to new heights.’

Chairman of the festival reception committee Prasenjit Chattopadhyay said, ‘I will try to contribute as much as I can to the festival with the help of artists and colleagues. I have always been a part of KIFF and must admit Raj is doing an amazing job as chairman. KIIF is a celebration of cinema and we will try as a team to ensure that our audience can enjoy the film well.’

Like every year, KIIF also has a Masterclass section. Which has always been the talk of the town, this year will be no different. It is reported that film personalities like Sudheer Mishra, Anurag Bose, Manoj Bajpayee and Mani Ratnam can be seen to grace the festival this year.
