The pairing of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif means that the film has a hundred percent chance of becoming a super hit. With this again when stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Emraan Hashmi were added; Needless to say, the expectations are doubled then. Moviegoers experienced exactly this natural experience with the release of ‘Tiger 3′ on November 12. It is the fifth film in the spy universe created by Yash Raj Films along with Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019) and Pathan (2023).
India’s most awaited film directed by Manish Sharma has created some controversies surrounding the release of the film. What is the debate! And to what extent it is affecting the popularity of the film, let’s find out.
Made on a budget of Rs 300 crore or about 397 crore Bangladeshi taka (1 Indian rupee = 1.32 Bangladeshi taka), the movie has been rumored to be banned in several countries. The countries are: Oman, Kuwait and Qatar.
The villain of the film, Emraan Hashmi, plays the role of the leader of an international terrorist organization. As these organizations directly represent Muslim-majority countries, a negative background is indicated. As a result, the religious image of the countries has been undermined by the portrayal.
However, the ultimate ban is still limited to Ratna.
On the other hand, countries are still analyzing the film’s plot. If everything goes well, it will be released in the theaters of the countries soon. However, another touchy issue is being blamed for the ban in the Middle East of the movie, which was cleared for release in India without any cuts. And that is, an action sequence with Katrina Kaif wearing a towel as Zoya. Katrina Kaif’s action scene in a towel is the most expensive project of Yash Raj Films. One of the scenes in Dhundhuma was Katrina and Michelle Lee of popular Hollywood movie Black Widow or Bullet Train fame doing martial arts while wearing a towel.
The sequence was also featured in the movie’s trailer, representing the film’s action separately. Since then, the uproar started with the fist fight between the two women.
This is the first such action scene in an Indian film and Katrina is the first Indian actress to do this stunt. The scene was shot in Turkey in September 2021. For this, both of them had to train for a long time with the famous South Korean action director Si Young.
But the Bollywood heroine has become a victim of irony around this misadventure. The scene was distorted and shared on social media using Internet-based software DeepFake. Naturally, it didn’t take long for the video to go viral.
This is not the first use of deepfake technology. Previously, wrong information has been spread by editing pictures or videos with its help. Currently, artificial intelligence has also been added to it. A few days ago, South Indian actress Rashmika Mandana was a victim of such irony.
In such a situation, strict guidelines have been issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for social media platforms. According to Section 66D of the Information Technology Act 2000, if anyone tries to misuse the communication medium by using any kind of computer-based source, or betrays any person, then he can be jailed for up to three years and fined up to 1 lakh taka.
In terms of showing the movie released in Hindi as well as Telugu and Tamil, the owners have added a condition that no other movie can be played for at least three weeks. Although the time was not so long, the production company Yash Raj Films had such a condition during the release of ‘Pathan’.
Other regional movies are already cornered by such a big budget movie. With such conditions, it would be impossible for smaller studios to do business.
Yash Raj has given such condition to the hall owners in every state of the country, not only. This is the first time in the history of Indian cinema that a Hindi film has been abandoned for such a long time.
Anger is growing among other producers-directors around such unreasonable guidelines of one of the most influential and successful production companies in Bollywood. Despite so much controversy about ‘Tiger 3’, the expectation and popularity of the movie has not decreased so much. It earned 13 crore rupees from advance tickets before its release, which is 17.2 crore rupees in Bangladeshi currency.
Apart from this, the mobile phone records of Salman and Shahrukh’s part of the movie from the Mumbai world screening were leaked on social media. Even later, another spoiler containing Hrithik’s scene was circulated online. Rather than having a negative impact on promotion, audience interest has doubled.
