Kolkata: Bengal superstar Shakib Khan’s movie ‘Priyatma’ has been a hit in Kolkata. The movie went to India with Zahid Hasan Abhi but could not take advantage due to lack of publicity.
Priyatma was released in West Bengal, Assam and Tripura on November 3. Although it was released in 40 halls of West Bengal, it is now running in only five halls. Although without success.
A show is going on at Lali Cinema Hall in Helabattala area of Barasat in North 24 Parganas. Gautam Dey, the manager of the hall, said that good movies are not attracting audiences due to lack of promotion. Durga Puja is over, Kali Puja is ahead. People are busy moving around.
He also said that those who are coming to the hall are looking for when Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 will come. There is nothing dear. Now is the era of publicity. Whoever brings the film to India, will have to think about publicity. Otherwise it will be difficult to get shows in the coming days.
Care should be taken not to clash with big movies. Tiger 3 is ahead, followed by Shahrukh Khan’s Dunki, then Dev’s Pradhan. At this time, Bangladeshi cinema will not do well. Audiences will come to watch the movie if it is widely publicized.
Only three shows of Priyatma are running at Mahamaya cinema hall in Baruipur area of South 24 Parganas district. The audience was also not noticeable.
Shakib Khan’s heroine in Priyatama directed by Himel Ashraf is Kolkata’s Idhika Pal. The movie was released last Eid and did good business in Bangladesh. Has been successful in USA, Australia. People also watched in OTT. But in West Bengal there is no such thing as a sweetheart.
Priyatama will continue in West Bengal till November 11. Priyatama may release on November 10 in some multiplexes in Kolkata. Tiger 3 will be released during Diwali.
