Fardeen Khan Shares Details On Getting Sanjay Leela Bhansali Directorial Heeramandi

He will be seen as Wali Mohammed in the web series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’. But do you know how he was chosen for this role?

This epic genre drama series is getting a lot of buzz even before its release. Fans are also waiting. In a recent interview, actor Fardeen Khan revealed how he got the opportunity to act in this series. He narrated a great story behind this character.

In a recent interview to News18 Shosha, Fardeen Khan revealed how the series’ casting director Shruti Mahajan ‘spotted’ him at an award function. He has been working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a long time. Although the actor is not sure if Shruti ‘observed’ him on the show and not on television, it is certain that he saw Wali in Fardeen.

After this event Shruti received a call from Mahajan Fardeen, after returning from Abu Dhabi. The actor said that a meeting was then fixed with the director and his team to check his suitability for the role.

Even though he has been away from the camera for a long time, he did not have to audition for the role, says an excited Fardeen Khan. Even the director was very impressed by the actor on the first day of the meeting. Fardeen Khan said, ‘Within 20 minutes of the meeting, Mr Bhanshali came to see me. We had met before. And when he felt like it, he agreed to do the look test. I could not believe my luck. I was very grateful for the opportunity.’

The ‘Hey Baby’ actor also revealed that the veteran director was not present during his look test. Although he was later sent pictures. Then, he got a call from the director and got the good news. The actor said, “He said, ‘Congratulations, you are Wali Mohammed!’ It was exciting and nerve-wracking news as I haven’t been on a shooting set for a long time.’ Fardeen Khan was last seen in ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ in 2010. Now after 14 years, fans are excited to see him back on screen.

‘Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ will release on Netflix on May 1, 2024.
