Criticism on the transgender issue centered around the much-discussed play ‘Rupantar’ is happening across the country. A case has been filed in Noakhali against six people, including Farhan Ahmed Jovan and Samira Khan Mahis, who acted in the play.

On Monday (April 22) at noon, District Senior Judicial Magistrate No. 1 Amli Court Judge Md. Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Kawsar ul Jihad appealed this case to Zakir Hossain.

Advocate Kausar Ul Jihad, the plaintiff in the case, said, “The ‘Transgender’ issue has been promoted in the play ‘Rupantar’ directed by Rafat Majumdar Rinku. So I voluntarily pleaded the case. I hope the judge will take the case into consideration.’

Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Inspector (Court Inspector) Md. Shah Alam confirmed the matter and said, ‘The application of the case is true. However, no instructions have come on the matter. After seeing the application, the judge will decide and give instructions.’

Recently a drama titled ‘Rupantar’ was released on YouTube. Ever since its release, social media has drawn criticism on the transgender issue. Actor Farhan Ahmed Jovan and actress Samira Khan Mahi played central roles in the play. Numerous posts and millions of reactions came against the play. The drama was removed from YouTube in the face of intense criticism.
