Entertainment Desk: Popular West Bengal actress Anjana Bhowmik passed away. He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in South Kolkata on Saturday (February 17). He was 79 at the time of his death.

It is known that the actress was ill for a long time. On the night of February 16, he was admitted to the hospital with respiratory problems. Finally, Anjana succumbed to death.

Anjana was born on December 30, 1944 in Cooch Behar, India. He entered the silver screen at the age of 20 with the movie ‘Anushtup Chhand’. But before the release of the first movie, the actress changed her name to Anjana.

Anjana Bhowmik was a popular actress in Bengali cinema from sixties to eighties. The audience still remembers his performance in movies like ‘Chowrangi’, ‘Thana Toe Aayam’, ‘Nayika Sangbad’. His pairing with Uttar Kumar was very popular with the audience.

Anjana starred in notable films— ‘Nishivasar’, ‘Pratham Vasantha’, ‘Mahasweta’, ‘Nayika Sangbad’, ‘Thana Atte Ayaam’ etc.

In 2012, Anjana was awarded the ‘Special Film Award’ by the West Bengal government. Apart from this, he was awarded with many awards. But after a while, Anjana was no longer in the acting world. He went away from the silver world. Source: Anandabazar
