Israel will take responsibility for the security of Gaza after the war: Netanyahu

The war between Hamas and Israel is ongoing. At the end of this war, Israel will take responsibility for the security of Gaza controlled by Hamas, the country’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. In an interview given to Australian broadcaster ABC News, Netanyahu said, “When we did not have security responsibilities, we could not have imagined the kind of carnage that Hamas has carried out.”

Hamas suddenly attacked Israel on October 7. According to Israeli authorities, Hamas attacks have killed more than 1,400 people, most of them civilians. And they captured 240 people. In response to this attack, the Israeli forces are attacking Gaza and the West Bank one after the other. They are attacking by air, land and sea.

According to the Health Ministry of Hamas-controlled Gaza, more than 10,000 people, including 4,000 children, have died in the Gaza Strip in Israeli attacks.

In an interview on Monday (November 6), Netanyahu said the information from the Gaza Health Ministry was incorrect. “There are hundreds of thousands of Palestinian fighters among the dead,” he said.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and world leaders have called for a ceasefire in Gaza. However, Netanyahu said he did not support this call. Israel’s prime minister said, ‘There will be no ceasefire – not even a general ceasefire – until the prisoners are released. As far as possible, we have already given strategic little breaks for an hour, two hours. Humanitarian goods may be allowed to enter Gaza or hostages may be allowed to leave the besieged Palestinian territory.’

Asked how much responsibility he would take for the October 7 attack by Hamas, Netanyahu said, ‘I have to take this responsibility. This is not a question. It will be resolved after the war.’
