Honda Activa still holds the title of India’s best selling scooter. Although not so modern in terms of design, it is bought by millions of Indians every month because of its robustness and excellent engine along with high-mileage. At the moment of the growth of electric scooters, this model is going to be trumped by Honda. It’s not too late for the Activa Electric to hit the market. A new report points to just that.
According to an online report, Honda has opened two new manufacturing lines at its factories in Gujarat and Karnataka. The objective is one, to increase production. According to the report, production of the Activa Electric (codenamed K4BA) will begin at the Karnataka plant from December 2024.
The Honda Activa Electric Scooter will be launched in 2025
Last year, Atsushi Ogata, managing director and CEO of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India or HMSI, said that Honda will launch this electric scooter in early 2024. But new reports claim that the Activa Electric will be introduced in India as early as 2025.
Honda revealed at an event last year that the upcoming Honda Activa Electric will be based on a new platform. A patent design of the model leaked online suggests it will have a swing arm mounted motor. This system will reduce the complexity of production. Even if the rear tire is punctured, it can be easily repaired.
The Honda Activa Electric is expected to be priced around Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. Its rival models in the market include – Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, Hero Vida V1 Pro, Ola S1 Air and Bajaj Chetak.
