Abu Dhabi: Zayed International Airport welcomed the first British Airways flight to Abu Dhabi, which landed this morning after a four-year route suspension. The new route connecting London and Abu Dhabi will add to the growing number of international airlines currently operating from Zayed International Airport’s terminal.

The new route further strengthens trade and tourism links between the UAE and the UK, which will meet the growing demand for more flights connecting the global tourism and business hubs of London and Abu Dhabi. London Heathrow is one of Zayed International Airport’s top five destinations in terms of passenger numbers, with 290,000 passengers traveling the route in the first quarter of 2024.

Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, said: “We warmly welcome British Airways to begin operations at Zayed International Airport, a daily flight schedule that will enrich Abu Dhabi’s airport connectivity and promote business and tourism, our award-winning, state-of-the-art terminal. Offering visitors an unparalleled experience of visiting the vibrant UAE capital, where they will be welcomed by the best of the UAE.

British Airways Chief Customer Officer Callum Lemming added: “We are delighted that British Airways’ new daily flights to Abu Dhabi will provide our customers with the best possible service to London Heathrow and beyond. Our service to another stunning destination within our extensive global network, including four First Class cabins, is a service we’re sure our great colleagues will enjoy flying.”

The United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom have historic ties, and British Airways’ daily flights between Zayed International Airport and London Heathrow reinforce this relationship, strengthening the cultural and economic ties between the two countries.
