An affordable electric car has been launched as a gift to the poor on the occasion of Diwali, which fits the budget of the common man. It has a starting price of Rs 8.69 lakh ex-showroom. Its top model goes up to Rs 11.99 lakh and its deliveries to customers have also started before Diwali.

This car is the Tata Tiago EV, which was recently launched by Ratan Tata’s Tata Motors. It is a car that everyone can buy now. Tata Motors recently launched the Tiago EV in the market. Initially, the company had priced its base model at Rs 8.69 lakh. Its top model is priced at Rs 11.99 lakh. The company has started deliveries before Diwali, so that the car can be parked at customers’ doorsteps on Dhanteras. However, the company has increased its price by about 20 thousand rupees. Yet it is in the common man’s budget. Tata Tiago EV is available in four variants – XE, XT, XZ Plus and XZ Plus Lux. It is a five seater car.

The Tata Tiago EV has two battery pack options of 19.2kW and 24kW. With these battery packs the electric motor outputs 61 PS per 104 Nm and 75 PS per 114 Nm respectively. This electric vehicle offers a range of 250 km with a 19.2 kW battery pack. The 24 kW battery pack gives a range of up to 315 km.

The Tata Tiago electric hatchback gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four-speaker Harman sound system, auto AC, foldable ORVM, rain-sensing wipers and steering-mounted controls. Apart from this, features like cruise control and regenerative braking are also provided. Talking about the features offered for passenger safety, it includes dual front airbags, cornering brake control, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ABS with EBD and rearview camera feature. The Tata Tiago EV does not compete directly with any car, but it will definitely prove to be an affordable alternative to the Citroen C3 EV.
